The Department of Surgical Oncology has 70 beds and is headed by Dr. M. Srinivasulu M.S. M.Ch Professor and Head, Department of surgical oncology.

The Department has two working units Each unit has one Professor, one Associate Professor, two Assistant Professors, two Senior Residents and a number of Tutors.

The Department has one teaching unit headed by Dr.M.Srinivasulu M.S. M.Ch Professor and Head, Department of Surgical Oncology

The Department runs out patient clinic four days a week and sees around 90-100 patients on each out patient day.

The Department has a three operation theatre complex, which is fully equipped to conduct all major oncologic procedures. The equipment consists of Hydraulic tables, Ergonomic lighting, Electro Cautery units, Argan Beam Coagulator, Multi Cannel Patient Monitors, Anesthesia Work Stations etc., The department conducts around 1500 major and 1500 minor surgeries per year.

The Department has a 10 bedded surgical intensive care unit with standard monitors, ventilators and other equipment.

The department conducts M.Ch Surgical Oncology course with an intake of one student per year under the guidance of Dr. Mr. Srinivasulu M.S. M.Ch. The course was started in the year 2005 with the approval of MCG under the stewardship of Dr. M. Srinivasulu M.S. M.Ch. The entrance test is conducted yearly by the NTR university of Health Sciences, Vijayawada and the degree is awarded by the NTR UHS. The Department of surgical oncology, MNJ Institute of Oncology & Regional Cancer Center, Hyderabad, is one of the very few centers conducting this course in the country. The first student from the department has successfully completed the course in 2008.
